Solar panels are a big investment. Not only will you be spending thousands on these panels but they’ll be on your home for the next 25-30 years. That’s why you want to make sure everything is done properly. It’s important to be picky about which solar company you choose.
Here are 5 things to consider when choosing your solar company
As with any big purchase doing your research includes looking at reviews. There are usually only two types of customers that leave reviews: ones that are very satisfied with their experience and ones that are very dissatisfied.
People that have an “average” experience don’t usually leave a review but reviews still matter! If a company is flooded with lots of bad reviews and not many good ones then you can be sure it’s not a good experience. On the other hand, if a company has great reviews it means that you can probably expect above average experience.
At Solar Wholesale we pride ourselves on providing the best customer service possible! We pride ourselves on taking care of our customers like family. Whether they’re doing a DIY project or a full install, we’re here to help. Below are just a few of the amazing reviews we’ve received!
Another thing to consider of course is the price and how quickly your panels will end up paying for themselves. Obviously price isn’t everything and it certainly shouldn’t be the only thing you consider. The saying, “you get what you pay for” exists for a reason.
Unfortunately, many solar companies mark their prices way up to turn a higher profit. Shop around and get quotes to make sure you’re not being taken for a ride. You don’t want to be stuck paying off panels once your warranty is up.
We buy our panels wholesale and pass the savings on to you, our customer. We can do this because we also supply other solar companies which allows us to get the lowest price per panel. Many other companies can’t afford to pass these savings on to their customers because they spend so much on their sales team and incentives. We’ve cut out this expense for a more customer focused approach.
Here’s what one customer told us about our pricing.
“Solar Wholesale was great to work with. I had quotes from multiple companies and Doug at Solar Wholesale was by far the best. (One company basically walked out when I said I had a quote from Solar Wholesale, he knew that SW’s price couldn’t be beat)… Save yourself some time and money by calling Solar Wholesale first.” – M. Like I mentioned before, your solar panels will be with your home for the next 25-30 years so you want to make sure you get high-quality panels that will stand the test of time.
Solar panels are meant to be low maintenance and long-lasting and you’re probably purchasing them as a financial investment to cut back on energy bills. If you purchase low-quality panels all of those things could be in jeopardy. You might find that your panels aren’t producing as much energy as they should be or that they’re breaking down and require maintenance or replacement.
There are a few things to keep in mind when searching for high-quality panels: solar panel efficiency, temperature coefficient, and materials warranty.
Solar Panel Efficiency is how much sunlight your panel can turn into electricity. Anything from 15% or more is pretty high-quality. The higher the better!
Temperature Coefficient is how well your panel performs in extreme heat. Solar panels perform best around 77 degrees the higher the temp the less efficient your panels perform. The lower the coefficient the better.
Materials Warranty can vary from brand to brand but a longer warranty generally means the panels will have a longer lifetime. An average warranty for high-quality panels is around 30 years. Obviously the longer the warranty the better.
At Solar Wholesale we only stock the highest quality solar panels around. All of our solar panels are rated some of the best on the market. High-quality doesn’t mean we only carry the most expensive panels though.
Unless you have the cash to pay for an entire system plus installation up front you’ll likely need financing help. Look for a solar company that has multiple financing options or can help you get the financing you need.
Getting the panels is only half the equation so a solar company without financing can add a lot of frustration to the process if you need to secure your own financing.
In addition to financing also consider what hurdles you’ll need to overcome in order to qualify for any kind of tax credits or incentive programs. The solar investment tax credit (ITC) will run out at the end of 2021. So if you’re serious about going solar consider doing it sooner rather than later.
At Solar Wholesale we offer many financing options from same-as-cash loans to combo loans. We even offer financing for installation costs as well. You can learn about some of our financing options here.
Whether you want to have someone fully install your solar array for you or you want to do it yourself, it’s important to choose a solar company that can support you. Some solar companies discourage DIY or flat out refuse to sell professional quality solar kits to DIYers.
Installing your own solar array is becoming more and more popular because it can help you save a ton of money! If you decide you want to DIY make sure the solar company you choose has the resources you need to complete your project.
We’re here to help you go solar whether you want a full install or you’ve decided to go the DIY route. We can connect you with top notch installers. We also have a wide range of resources to help you do it on your own including tutorial videos and free DIY classes.
No matter what solar company you pick whether it’s Solar Wholesale or another company, make sure that you do your research first! Going solar is a big investment and you want to make sure you’re getting the best quality and service available to you at the best price!
